Be Original

I just LOVE brand new stamps don't you?  This stamp came last week and I was like I have to use this NOW!  Of course time and commitments got into the way but here it is now!

Isn't it so cute? I love elephants. I know they were "on trend" like five years ago, but I like to make my own trends. I think this little guy's gonna make several appearances in my work in the near future.

Classic Romance

Happy Glee-Is-Back-Day!  I feel like it's been months since my show's been on.  I know the past two seasons have been horrible and it's been painful to watch since Cory died, but still, I love my Glee.  Can't wait to see Rachel sing tonight.

So with that said, I had to hurry and finish this card before Glee starts.  I got some new stamps recently so I'm still making love-themed cards.  I wanted to give this one kind of a classic look.

It's hard to see in the photo but the embossed background has an ombre pink-to-red background. I think that's my favorite part.

The flourish embellishment I made myself.  I prefer that to store-bought embellies anyday.

Today, Tomorrow, Always

Hi all. As the Olympic Games come to a close (sniff, sniff), I'm trying to watch as much as possible and that means more crafting!!  I really only have two modes: Burning off steam (cooking, cleaning, organizing, dancing) and relaxing.  For me, relaxing is crafts in my hand and the TV on.  This has been two wonderful weeks of art and athleticism.  I'll miss them, but it's only two and a half years to the Summer Games in RIO!  Can't wait.

I'm really trying to fill my box for OWH this month, so I've been working on CAS cards.  I thought this sketch from Sunday Sketch and Stamp was perfect, so I used it on this love-themed card.  I've had some technical difficulties, so I didn't get to enter it in the challenge, but I still wanted to share it.

It's my opinion that LOVE cards don't all have to be red and white, and don't always have to be Valentines!  Plus, I love using brown on a romantic card. It's so vintage.

(You should know, the entire time I was creating this card, I was singing "Wonder" by Natalie Merchant.  Couldn't get it out of my head for hours.  Don't know why.  Oooh, that's another good song, for another crafty project.)

Heart Attack

The minute you saw that post title from me, I KNOW you were thinking I was gonna be singing the Demi Lovato song.  But I'm not!  I've got a custom-made Valentine I created to share with you, and it's literally FULL of hearts.

Here's the front.  Some hearts, some bling, but just you wait :)

BOOM.  Heart attack! :)

I love how all the hearts came together on the pop-up steps.

I wanted to show a close-up on the handmade flowers and the wooden flourish. I made the flourish and flowers myself.  I love handmade embellishments, they allow you to customize the colors of the card.

I'm entering this in some challenges, 'cause I LOVE challenges.

Stylish Chevrons

The Chevrons challenge at Seize the Birthday has been keeping me up at night.  Literally.  Like I can't sleep because I keep getting ideas but then I try to put the card together and it's EH so I don't go forward with it.  Tonight, I'll sleep 'cause I finally made a card I loooooove.

I looooove it.  Sometimes I finish stuff and I kinda make the Mikayla Mulroney face.  Not this time.

Seriously this stamp ALWAYS looks good though.  Always.

Seasons Greetings

I have had the most trying day.  I haven't had internet for twelve hours and Comcast is 100% useless!  Their customer service is terrible!!!!  I would've had like ten projects to show you but with the anger I'm feeling I couldn't get my create on.

Anyways, I really wanted to make a simple tag-adorned card.  The challenge at Christmas Card Challenges inspired it, and I figured it would make a great, bling-free card for OWH.  Love to donate to OWH,

Close-up of the greeting :D

Alternate Valentine

Happy Hump Day!!  Now that I've spent my hour with the sexiest man alive (Stephen Amell, hello!  I love Adam Levine but he's no Green Arrow....) I can get back to my crafting.  It's been bugging me that all Valentines are so girly.  Pink and red and white, they just scream feminine and I thought, well they don't have to!  They can be any color they want to me.

I decided to make a blue Valentine.  Not only is it PERFECT for a girl to give to her guy, but it's fun and unusual.  I like alternatives to the norm.  They help keep things interesting.

I just love how it came out.  The color and the accents, everything just gelled.  I love projects that turn out like that!

I just had to put glitter somewhere, so I figured the matte Distress Glitter on Cupid's wings would be perfect, 'cause it's glitzy, but still manly.  Plus, he is getting this card from a girl....

I'm entering some challenges of course:

Christmas In February

Happy Monday!  I'm trying to create more holiday cards during the off-season this year.  Don't know how good I'll do, I always say I'm going to do it and I don't, but I'm off and running, I've already made five new Christmas cards in 2014. YAY!

This card was actually inspired by the challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge.  They wanted you to use minimal embellishments--they're on the letter B for Bare Essentials this week.  This is what I came up with. It was so hard no to focus mostly on die cuts and wood and such.

No bling, no buttons, no bows, I'm impressed with myself lol.

Inspiration Challenge With The Craft Garden!

Happy Saturday crafters!  There's a  new challenge starting today at The Craft Garden and it's an inspiration challenge!  You can make anything you like, drawing inspiration from this photo:

I was instantly inspired by the pallet wood, and by the colors.  I tried to draw all of that into the card I created.

You know me, I LOVE music.  I hadn't had a chance to use this stamp yet and I thought this card was the perfect opportunity.  I'm really happy with the way the colors came together.

Girl, put your records on.....

Come and play with us this month at The Craft Garden!  I can't wait to see what about the photo inspires all of you.  Thanks so much for looking.  Laters!
