You Are Beautiful

It's supposed to be spring--it's the first day of spring!!!--but there's still snow on the ground and it's freezing outside.  Ah, Michigan.  I'm ignoring the weather and making bright, floral cards from inside while blaring 80s music.  Nothing says hanging out in the sunshine like 80s music.

The debossed background doesn't really show up in the photo, nor does the fact that the flower centers are glittery and the flowers are shimmery.

Simple Style

Hi all.  I was trying to watch the 100th episode of Glee, but it was too horribly done so instead I made this card to add to my OWH box.  I'm trying to make over 400 cards JUST for that this year!

Isn't it sharp? I like that it's good for all occasions, and it's flashy but not glittery, as that's not allowed.  It was a quick card, too.  Love those.

Thanks so much for looking. I'm off to try and get through this ep of Glee.  Ugh.  Laters!

Simple Celebrations

I'm still on my CAS kick!  Here's another quick and easy card I made for my OWH box!

I'm making it in guy-friendly colors, too.  I like cards that work for men and women.

I'm off to try and figure out how to get gesso off my favorite PJ pants.  Laters!

Is It SPRING Yet?!?

I swear it seems to just stay perpetually cold here.  The mounds of snow aren't melting and I'm sick of freezing my butt off when I wear a skirt.  I am done with winter and I keep telling myself if I make spring cards, then spring will come.  It hasn't worked yet but I've still got hope.  A teeny, tiny bit of hope.

I've been putting a lot of time into cards for OWH this month, and this card is just perfect for the no-thickness, no-glitter requirements that they have.

Happy Birthday, Barbie!!

Fifty-five years ago, Ruth Handler released what I think is the greatest toy in the world.  The Barbie doll is and always will be my favorite toy.  From the time I was three until much later in my teens than you'd expect, Barbie was pretty much the only thing I wanted to play with.  Ever after I grew out of playing with them, I still wanted the dolls. I'd try to fix the ones I experimented with, or whose hair disintegrated (that whole cottony hair thing? Not Mattel's best idea!) and for awhile tried to make clothes for them.  I never stopped loving the doll though.  Never stopped buying them, never stopped wanting a collector's dream room to fill with dolls I could never afford.  Barbie always represented that girls can be ANYTHING they want to be.  She never apologized for who she was, no matter how much people tried to knock her down.  Her blonde hair, her figure, even her eyeliner made her the subject of ridicule at times, but she's always been beloved, and she'll always be a huge part of me.

I wanted to make a birthday card to celebrate this milestone in Barbie's life.  I don't have any Barbie stamps that aren't children's toys--because there aren't any--but this is a pretty close substitute I think.

A CAS Butterfly

You guys know me, I like things big and glittery and showy.  Making simple cards is always a challenge for me, but I'm trying to make cards I can donate to OWH for every big and bulky card I make to sell in the shop.

I apologize for the colors not really showing up, I tried taking about 83923848340 photos, and then I gave up :)

I really like the way the turquoise floats into the purple on the wings.

Pop Star

As soon as I chose that title for this blog post, I started to hear Eden's Crush music in my head.  You guys remember them?  They came from the first season of that WB trainwreck tv show PopStars?  The lead singer was Nicole Scherzinger?  Anyways, I made this card....

I've wanted to make a movies-inspired card for awhile now, and I finally got around to it!  It's a twofer, too, 'cause it's doubly dimensional.

So here's the card front. It's cute, it's fun, right?  But then....

The popcorn is a tag that comes out!

I couldn't decide on a sentiment so I used two different ones.

I'm psyched about this card, I don't usually do hidden tags or anything.  I tend to go more obvious.

Happy Spring (WE HOPE!!)!  Time to kick off the new season with a fun challenge from The Craft Garden!  This month we're using PASTELS to make our creations!  I received some gorgeous flowers from the Craft Garden Shop to make my project, so I made an A7 vintage themed card.
