Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall....

Okay, okay, so the whole world is abuzz with Maleficent right now (which was GREAT!!) and I'm all making Snow White themed crafts.  Whatever.  This is Snow White with a bit of a darker edge (but not the kind of grody kind that begetted all the cheating in Snow White and The Hunstman!), which I think I really like.  I might do more with this in the future, I'm loving the color palette and the Shattered cardstocks, this was my first time using them.

I'd never used the Mirror die before, and it was my first time playing with my Seedless Preserves Distress Glitter.  LOVE that stuff.  LOVE it.

I'm of course linking to some challenges:

Oh Christmas Tree....

Every year, the conventions come around and by the time I get to this one booth, I'm out of money and my feet hurt but I always want this one stamp of theirs in particular.  It's a Christmas tree with the music to "O Christmas Tree" behind it.  Well this year I made a point to hit that booth before I was broke and I got it!  There's a super-fun cohesive challenge going on between Tis The Season Challenges and Jingle Belles and I got this card made with my new stamp just in the nick of time!

So I'm entering two challenges with this card:

Mega Meet 2014 Make & Take 1

Another Mega Meet has come and gone (sniff, sniff!) and it was, as always, EPIC.  If you've never been, I strongly suggest that you check it out.  The convention comes to Novi, MI once a year (Mother's Day weekend) and it's the most fun you an have while killing your feet and emptying your wallet.

The show is filled with fun new demos and make and takes and most importantly, this year, it featured TIM HOLTZ!  I'm sure all you know that I adore Tim Holtz.  I feel that the show needs some different organization but this year's show was worlds better than last year's!

Anyways, one of my favorite booths, Tessler Stencil Co., was at the Mega Meet and had a make and take.  When I got home with it, it looked like this.

I wanted to turn it into a card, but I knew it needed some cutesy accents, so I made dragonflies to embellish it. I used the same ink pad I used on the M&T so it would match.

I think it just pops now.  The colored background and the hummingbirds bring it all together.  I know you can't see it but the flowers have all been glittered as well as the birds' wings.

I'm entering some challenges, of course :)

A Fairy Crafty Mother's Day

Hi all!  I know Mother's Day was a week ago, but I was busy celebrating and basking in the glow of the wonder that was the Mega Meet and having Mother's Day fun with my mom.  So I'm only getting around to posting this now, but this is the amazing (not tooting my own horn, that's what my mom and bro kept saying) box card I made for my Mamacita.  She looooooves Sleeping Beauty, it's her favorite Disney movie, so I made this with the new Maleficent movie in mind.

The front of the box.  I didn't follow the usual instructions for the box card, I made it larger and I also didn't care about it folding flat to fit into an envelope so my embellishments are thicker on the sides that usual and I used super-stiff cardstock for durability.

Custom-made ribbon I bought :)

Here you can really see that the fairies kind of look "in motion".  I used acrylic for that purpose.  I wanted the swishy movement of Flora, Fauna and Merryweather flitting around Aurora, protecting her from Maleficent's spell.

Here you can see the flourishes I painted and glittered on either side of the box.  I thought the green looked like the dragon Maleficent comes.

And the wooden tag on the front. I love the blingy frame.

One last closeup.  I'm so in love with this project :)

I want to enter a few challenges, which I don't usually do with personal projects but my mom urged me to with this one and it IS her box, so....

Floral Thoughts Of You

I rarely craft on a Saturday afternoon.  Saturdays are spent shopping, cleaning, running errands or doing family crap.  (I have the attention span of a teenager I can call sitting around and visiting for five straight hours crap if I want to!)  Today though, I was kind of headachey, and laying around turned into this card. I went into the craft room to look for a die to play with, knocked stuff down and the patterned paper on this card was lying face up on the pile.  I knew instantly that I wanted to make something with it.  I thought I wouldn't make the deadline at 613 Avenue Create, they're sort of playing a Bingo-like game this week.  I decided to play along with my random-paper card.  Here's the "Bingo" board they gave us to choose from:

I chose to use a sentiment, patterned paper, solid color paper, die cuts, Glossy Accents, Stickles, bling and ribbon.  Here's what I created:

The Glossy Accents doesn't photograph well, but the sentiment portion of the label is all glossy and shiny in person.

I'm of course linking to a few challenges:

FAIRIES Challenge with Hobbycutz!!

Happy Mother's Day!!  We've got a brand new challenge at Hobbycutz and this week it's FAIRIES!  Our lovely sponsor this week is A & T Digital Designs.  I chose the Mushie House image for my card this week.

I used one of the Hobbycutz Decorative Borders on this card. I just added a little Tim Holtz paint and it's good to go.

I hope to see you play with us this week at Hobbycutz!  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge One

HI!  I'm at the last minute again!!  This time I FINALLY get to play along with the Compendium of Curiosites Challenge!  I was too crazy busy with work when the first Compendium book came out and the second one, I don't even know what was going on with me.  But I'm HERE this time and I'm playing along!  If you don't have your own copy of A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3, you can order one here.

This challenge we were trying the technique of Paint Marbling!  I grabbed some of my brand new Distress Paints and got to town!

I know I don't have great photography skills, but I hate when you work with shimmery paper or paint, you get a sort of glare when you take pictures of it.  The whole thing has shimmer but it doesn't really show!!

As you can see better here, the quote on this card is "Where there is love, there is no darkness."  I love it.

I've gotta get back to resting from the Mega Meet the past two days.  My foot is swollen and throbbing.  Ugh.  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!

Creative Moments Anything Goes/BINGO Challenge!

Happy Hump Day everyone!!  It's time for another great challenge at Creative Moments and this time our theme is Anything Goes/BINGO!  Who doesn't love a great game of Bingo?  We've come up with a super-fun board for you to play with this time around, either horizontally, diagonally or vertically!

Our lovely sponsor this time is Art By Miran!  Her images are just amazing, be sure to pay her a visit!

I've chosen to use the Lunar Diety for my card this challenge.  I KNEW I wanted to use charms on this card so I wound up going with Ribbon, Charm and Tag for my BINGO line.  I used twine instead of ribbon though, none of my ribbons wanted to match.

I am soooooo happy with how this turned out.  Loads of layers and colors and techniques on one card.  It's one of my favorite things I've ever done.

You've got two weeks to play along with our Anything Goes/BINGO challenge!  Hope to have you join us.  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting!  Laters!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!!

And Happy Monday as well!  I've never created a card for Cinco De Mayo before, so I'm excited that this year I got to do so! (Another project off the pile on my table, yay!)

I actually made these flowers like, three months ago.  They were created for a birthday card but when I finished them, I took one look and said, "These don't look like a birthday, they look like a Quinceanara!"  I decided to save them for Cinco De Mayo and I'm so glad that I did!

I'm of course linking to some challenges:

Love and Joy

Love and joy, come to you, and to you your wassail too....sorry.  Once I get on a singing tangent I can't stop.  My first project finished from the stack of ideas I had for National Scrapbooking Day (on which I was stuck doing housework and didn't get a single thing made!) is this Christmas card.  I wanted it to be slightly wintery, and I also heard the song from Frozen*, "Let It Go" in my head more than once as I was making it.  I made it specifically for the color challenge at Tis The Season Challenge Blog, and I"m really happy with it.  The challenge called for these three colors:

I adlibbed the best I could, and here's what I came up with.

You can't really tell in the photo, but her halo, wings and the music notes are all sparkly.  I love sparkly.

I'm entering this in just one challenge, Tis The Season #15 - It's A Wintery Mix!  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!!

*I know I'm the only person alive but I didn't love Frozen, and yet I walk around my house singing "Let It Go" every day.  I literally cannot get it out of my head.  I'm sure now that I've brought it up, it's also stuck in your heads.  I apologize :)

Photo Inspiration Challenge at The Craft Garden!

Happy May crafters!!  It's time for a new challenge at The Craft Garden!  This month we've got an inspiration photo to get your creative juices flowing!!

I instantly wanted to use shells on my card and thought of sunbathers on a Hawaiian vacation, and this is what I came up with.

You have a whole month to link up to our challenge, so find some crafty inspiration in that photo and show us what you've got!  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!

GDT With Crafty Girls Challenge!!

Happy May everyone!  I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer with Crafty Girls Challenge for the month of May!!  This challenge our sponsor is the amazing Aurora Wings!  I chose the Red Poppies image to work with from the Big Eyes collection.

I just love how it turned out!  I had a ton of fun with the coloring and layering.  You can't quite tell in the photo but the centers of the flowers are purple with crystal Stickles over the top.

Make sure you play along with us this challenge at Crafty Girls!!  Our theme is always Anything Goes!
