Unity Friends With Flair

Every week about eleven-thirty pm on Friday night I go OH CRAP! I forgot to make a card for Unity FWF.  And then I promise that I'll make one in plenty of advance for the following Friday.  Lather, rinse, repeat.

This week I remembered around three am Friday morning. That's MORE than early enough to make a card!

I haven't done a really vintage card in awhile so that's the way my thoughts were trending when I reached into a grab bag of Unity stamps I got with an order last year and pulled out a large bird in a tree.  I instantly thought of watercolors and here's what I came up with.

See it's vintagey, but also not.  I think the burlap ribbon adds an extra nature element to the card.

I'm linking this up with Unity Fridays With Flair!  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting!  Laters!

Decisions, Decisions

The last few days, I've had a bit of a creative block.  This happens every so often, and I know the best thing is to try and just keep on creating, but sometimes I think that's a mistake.  I made a card today, and it's.....not a pretty card.  It was supposed to be CAS, inspired by a challenge, but I just don't like how it came together.  And it had a lot of little pieces so it took awhile, and....well see what I mean?

It's just so....blah.  You can't even see that the snow is shimmery.  I couldn't decide if I liked the sleigh, if it looked off-scale.  Then I couldn't decide if I liked the presents, or if they should've been bigger.  IDK I'm very eh about the whole design.  It was so cute in my head....this always happens.

I think I'm going to enter it in the challenge I made it for anyways, but I'm just not happy with it.

Thanks so much for looking.  I'm off to work on something else to try and jog my muse.  Laters!!

**ANYTHING GOES** New Challenge with Crafty Girls!!!

It's time for another fun challenge at Crafty Girls and this fortnight it's Anything Goes as always.  We've got two fabulous sponsors this time around, Bugaboo Stamps and Sassy Studio Designs!  I've got two cards to share with you 'cause I just couldn't decide between the two.

For Bugaboo, I decided to celebrate Christmas in June and use Snowflake Reindeer Silhouette for my card.  I LOVE blue and silver for Christmas cards, I think it looks so elegant.  Bugaboo's prize for this challenge is seven digi stamps of your choice!

I wanna enter this card in a few challenges:
For Sassy Studio, I decided to make something I never make so I went with a Get Well Soon card.  They seem to be a bit of a challenge for me like masculine cards are.  Sassy Studio's prize for this challenge is four digis of your choice!

This card I'm entering in these challenges:

I've had this new Tim Holtz stamp set burning a hole in my craft room for weeks, waiting to be used, so I thought this was the perfect project for it!

Something Old/Something New Challenge with Hobbycutz!!

Happy Sunday!  This is such a fun week at Hobbycutz Challenges, our theme is Something Old/Something New!  There's so many ways you can interpret that!  Our sponsor this week is the awesome Kenny K Downloads.

The image I chose to use is Fun Faerie and when I saw her wings, I instantly pictured micro glass beads on them.  I figured that could be my Something Old.

It's hard to see them in the photo but the beads coat the wings.  I love how it looks in person.

I used a few Something Olds on this card: The micro glass beads, loose glitter, patterned paper.  The Something News I used were: Hashtag stamp set, banner stamp and die set.

Last but not least, the Hobbycutz die cut embellishment I used on this card is from the Dotty Flower set.

I'm of course entering some challenges:
Be sure and play along with our challenge this week!  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge 4

Happy Friday!  My weekend is off to a crafty start, I managed to finish my COC3 card like, twelve hours early.  WOOHOO!!!  The lovely sponsor of this week's COC3 Challenge is The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

The challenge this week is #49 Layering Stencils with Texture Paste.  If you don't have a copy of Compendium of Curiosities 3, you can order a copy here.  I didn't actually have any texture paste and realized this too late to order any, so I got onto Pinterest and made my own!!

I actually had to make three batches.  The first one, with flour and baby oil, was a DISASTER!  The second one, with flour, paint and Mod Podge, never ever got blended and smooth.  It stayed clumpy and I'll have to make a post with a photo of how it turned out 'cause it wasn't good.  My third try was a keeper!!  Baking soda, paint and Mod Podge.  Awesomeness.  The only issue I had with it was that it didn't really resist ink at all.  So with that in mind, I altered the original plan for the my project and created this.  I didn't wanna risk tearing my ink blending tool on the texture paste so I used Distress Stains instead and I think it was a great idea.

Now if you're wondering where the texture paste is, I'm going to show you!

See the stars in the background?  I left the middle section intentionally white to create a red, white and blue background.  Then I stamped overtop the entire tag with Archival Ink.

In this photo you can really see the stars in the red section.  They stay a bit lighter than the background but still take color.

I'm entering this in just a few challenges:

Last Minute Wishes

Once again, I'm at the very last minute to get a card into the Tis The Season Stamping Challenge!  I always somehow let time get away from me and then I PANIC!  LOL.  But I managed to get it done in time, yay!  It was such an unusual color mix for me, but I like how it came out.

Of course I'm entering this in a few challenges:

Liberty

Ya'all prolly know that I'm pretty patriotic.  I love all things red, white and blue.  My aunt's birthday is at the end of May, so she always gets a USA-themed card from me.  This year I wanted something really awesome, so I used my brand-new, can't believe I (FINALLY!) have it Pop N Cuts die.

I love how the glitter has shading in it.  That wasn't entirely what I was going for but I love it.

The balloon-filled inside.  I'm so psyched with how it looks.

I'm of course entering a bunch of challenges:

Christmas In The Air

The other day I was in Hobby Lobby and I overheard the manager (who I dislike immensely--can't remember if I've shared that story or not) telling a customer that the Christmas stuff would be in store next week.  Christmas!!!  In June!  I'll admit I've been busy making Christmas cards to not have to scurry like a wild person throughout the November and December months of craziness the way I always do.  But shopping for Christmas items this early? (And at full price??!)  IDK how I feel about that.  I'm thinking that it'll be great to kinda scope everything out now but June.....

Anyways, the cards I've been making.  There's a great inspiration challenge this week at Tis The Season Stamping and I wanted to make a card specifically for it.  I won a prize from them a few weeks ago and really wanted to use it on this card.

Their challenge is photo inspiration right now, with this photo:

IDK why I saw a blue snowflake background first thing, when I looked at it.

I'm of course entering some challenges:

New COLOR Challenge with The Craft Garden!!

It's the first of the month and that means it's time for a new challenge at The Craft Garden!  This month we've got a COLOR theme for you!  To get you into the summer mood our challenge is to make a card using:

ORANGE, YELLOW AND LIME

I loved the opportunity to play with COLOR and here's what I created this month:

I've been experimenting with my Copics on different kids of paper.  This is a shinier finish and I like how the markers took to it.

You can enter our challenge up to THREE times!  Be sure to visit our blog and see what the other DT members created!  Thanks so much for playing and happy crafting!  Laters!
