**AUTUMN/SCHOOL/BOOKS** White on White IG Card Hop!!

I really loved the idea of the pop of color with the pumpkins.  I think it's extra special how you notice the pumpin she's sitting on at first, but then the squirrel's pumpkin catches your eye too.

Some Days You're The DOLL, Some Days You're The PIN!

You ever just have one of those days?  Or weeks or months or....anyway.  I made this card and already feel better.  (I'm convinced it was the card and not the homemade peanut butter cup ice cream!)

Christmas Cocoa

Okay, yeah, yeah, here I am with another blog post.  I know, I know, I said I was taking November and December off, but, yeah.  Here I am.

The Coffee Loving Cardmakers Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is going on now!  I had such high hopes for creating this week but, well, life interfered.  Big shock right?  My first project is hot-cocoa inspired.

I chose to use my Friends props in the photo because my love for all things coffee started with my obsession with the show.  I won't date myself by admitting how many years ago this was 😎

Alice In Wonderland Frame Card with Dies R Us!!!

Good morning!!  It's Lisa again, this time with an Alice In Wonderland themed square card.  I don't make a ton of square cards because they require extra postage, but every now and then I have a die that just screams "square card" and this Yvonne Creations Playing Cards Frame die definitely fits that category.

The minute I saw this die from Yvonne Creations I knew I wanted to make an Alice in Wonderland card with it.  I paired it with this Cheshire Cat stamp from Creative Expressions.

Since I had to wait for the ink to dry, I started by stamping the image on a 4" x 6" piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock.  While that set, I cut the frame once out of black cardstock and once out of silver shimmer text weight cardstock.  I put adhesive sheets on the back of the cardstock before cutting it so I could easily layer and attach them to the card.

See those negative space pieces in the top left corner? Since they have adhesive on them, I'll save them to cut sentiments and other small die cuts out of for future projects.

At this point, I decided that I wanted the frame to be more dimensional, so I wanted to cut three more layers of black cardstock to build up.  But since my inked background would need to dry, I went back to my stamped panel to ink it first.

This is where I made a mistake, but I didn't realize it until I went to cut it out.

When I taped the die down to cut out the center, I made the stripes of ink too wide, so the pink wasn't showing up.  So I had to stamp it and color it again.

I forgot to take a photo of the process, but I used scraps of red and black matte glitter cardstock to cut the hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades out, then I fussy cut all the frame away from the shapes and layered them onto the stacked frames.  I taped the negative die cut insert with my stamping into the frame first, then adhered it to my card base.  Clear AB rhinestones finished it off.

I hope this inspires you to play around with layering dies and using the negative part of the frame die as well.  Have a crafty day! --Lisa

Need A Break?

Lately I've needed to decompress, and there just hasn't been enough time for that!  I've felt so rushed and just overly exhausted.  I did manage to throw a cute card together, using this week's sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  This is the sample I worked from:

And here's what I made. I wanted this done for FWF last week, but it didn't happen.

I'm of course entering a few challenges:

Christmas is coming....

Seriously.  Twelve. Weeks.  I cannot even....

Anyways.  The inspiration challenge is about to end at Tis The Season Stamping, and I was super excited to make a card inspired by this photo:

While I was brainstorming, I saw the sketch at Creative Shopping Challenge and decided to use it for this card.

Here's what I made:

Christmas in June

So for the past few days, I've found myself walking around humming Christmas songs.  IDEK.  It's the strangest thing, especially since I don't seem to know that there are artists other than Bruno Mars and Pink as of late, that's all I play.  Nonetheless, I'm walking around with "Winter Wonderland", "Jingle Bells", "Joy To The World" and "Baby It's Cold Outside" rolling through my head.  So I did what any sensible creative person would do.  I watched all three Glee Christmas episodes, and I made this card.

SIDENOTE TO MY FELLOW GLEEKS: The first Christmas ep, though the saddest, was the best yes?  The second one was the stupidest but had the best music, and this last year's was a bit of a toss-up because Rachel wasn't in it after the beginning.

Anyways, I'm entering this card in some challenges:

Off to watch the Friends marathon for the rest of the weekend.  Laters!!
