OWH Finish Strong Memorial Day Blog Hop!

Happy Hopping!!!  It's Memorial Day weekend and that means it's time for Operation Write Home's Blog Hop!  The theme is a little different this year.....

Operation Write Home, a charity that has supported heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year.  All cards need to be sent in by August 1st, so I'm helping to get the word out!  I'll be posting various cards I'm donating over the next two months to help inspire you all to create cards to donate!!

This is the card I created for the blog hop.  There is another card coming that's a blingier version, I'll share that in a bit.

And a couple challenges, cause what's a blog post without challenges?!?
Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting and happy hopping!!  Laters!!

Chase Your Dreams

Another Friday with Flair and this week I've got a simple, semi mixed media card to share with you. I do LOVE experiments and especially to use things leftover from one project for another.  While I used a printed card for this, the layering pieces are actually scraps from other projects.  The first layer and the butterfly are from acrylic paint paper with watercolors cleaned off a brush on it, and the middle bright blue layer is from when I had too much paint on my brush. I save everything.

I wanted a few other colors on the butterfly, so I added some ink and then went over a bit of it with a gold marker.  I wanna donate this card to OWH so no glitter, but I love how the gold accented the wings.

Just a few challenges today:

Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Enjoy your weekend.  Laters!!

31 Days of Crafting - Day Three - Simple Thank You

A friend recently suggested that I make more simple cards to donate to OWH.  I think to a lot of people, simple means just that--blank space, no large embellishments, etc.  But to me, it only means one thing:

NO GLITTER?!?!??!?!!

And that's hard for me.  But as I was filling my box for OWH this week I realized I was a little light on thank you cards, which is the number one request they get.  Therefore, that's what I made today!

I see now that it's done, how much it looks like the chalkboard trend.  This wasn't intentional, but I'm happy with the result.

Just a few challenges today:

Make sure to do your part and donate some cards to OWH!!!  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!!

OWH Christmas Card Drive

I'm always compiling cards for Operation Write Home, but I just read that they're short on Christmas cards so I got cracking on some to send them this weekend.  They requested cards with a dog on them and while I shop for a Christmasy doggie stamp (or find my Santa hat stamp to add to dogs I already have), I wanted to go ahead and make something.  I like to follow sketches when I'm tending towards a CAS card, so I turned to Sketch Saturday for a layout idea. I actually love t.

I of course wanna link to a few challenges:
