Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge - Week 32 - Frosted Film

I wouldn't be me if I wasn't turning this in at the last minute!!!!  The Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge this week was Frosted Film, which I looooove.  You can find this technique in Tim's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3 which you can purchase here.

Their lovely sponsor is the Funkie Junkie Boutique!  They're offering up a $25 gift card!

My card features a Frosted Film border (and that doily die that I FINALLY got and will be using on EVERYTHING now!) and I love the vintage feel of it!

A close up of the Frosted Film border...

It doesn't really show up in the photo, but it's shimmeryish and inked purple.

A few challenges, of course:

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge - Week 31 - Paint Resist

It's Friday so of course it's it's time for another last-minute entry to the COC3 challenge!  I've actually done this technique a few times before, and I always find that it works only half of a time.  Kinda sucks if you're time-crunched for a project.  You can find the Paint Resist technique in COC3.  If you don't have a copy of COC3, you can get one here.

Their amazing sponsor this time around is Inspiration Emporium!!  They're giving one lucky artist a $50 gift certificate!  WOW!!

Of course some challenges:

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge - Week 28 - Alcohol Ink Ombre

WOOHOO I finished this a whole day early!!  The Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge this week was Alcohol Ink Ombre.  This was the first time I ever tried this technique and I LOVED it!!!  You can find this technique in Tim's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3 which you can purchase here.

Their lovely sponsor is the Funkie Junkie Boutique!  They're offering up a $25 gift card!

I just got these girly TH stamps so I just HAD to use them!!

I created the flowers with the same technique.  I colored the paper first, then stamped on it and die cut the flowers.

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge - Week 24

YAY I finished it in time!  I'm always right at the deadline with these projects!!  The Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge this week was Remnant Rub Resist.

Since it's almost Easter, I pulled out my bunny dies and made an Easter card!!  I didn't put a sentiment on it 'cause I couldn't decide on one.

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge - Week 21

I cannot believe I'm so behind!  I haven't participated in a COC3 challenge in weeks!  I've been crazy busy though and haven't had all the supplies for some of the techniques.  Anyways, I played along this week and if you don't have a copy of COC3, you can get one here.

Their amazing sponsor this time around is Inspiration Emporium!!  They're giving one lucky artist a $50 gift certificate!  WOW!!

This is what I've created.  I'm sorta upset the clear glitter doesn't photograph great.  It wouldn't show up at all if I took the photo of the card standing up like I usually do I had to take it lying down to get anything to appear.

I used soooooo many TH techniques here!  Tammy Tutterow's techniques. too.

I'm entering some challenges too!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Week 14

ALWAYS to the last minute, I'm just barely getting my card done for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 3.  This week's technique is Colored Crackle.  This is something I haven't tackled before so it was super fun.  You can find this technique in Tim's book, A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol.3 which you can purchase here.

Their lovely sponsor is the Funkie Junkie Boutique!  They're offering up a $25 gift card!

I got to play with new products for this too, yay!!

Skulls and Bling

Who says a skull can't be blingy?  When I was making this card I envisioned a flourishy blingy embellishment, so that's what I used.  I really like how it turned out.  This is my entry for the Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge, where the theme is Effect Powders.  If you don't have a copy of COC3, you can get one here.

The challenge is sponsored this fortnight by Inspiration Emporium, which is a fabulous place to find all kind of Tim goodies!

I'm also excited cause I used a brand-new stamp set on this card. That's always fun!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge, Week Nine

This challenge was sooooooo fun for me!  If you're following along at Linda Ledbetter's blog, you know that the deadline for the COC3 Challenge is coming soon, but I've made it!  This time around we're challenged to play with Framelits!  If you don't have a copy of A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 3, you can pick one up here.

Their lovely sponsor this week is the always amazing Inspiration Emporium!  One lucky winner will get a $50 gift certificate!

I'm in a fall frame of mind, so I made a Halloween card.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Week Seven

Happy Friday!  I'm right under the line again with my project for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, but I made it!  (I already know that my New Year's Resolution for 2015 will be to be more punctual!)

The lovely Linda Ledbetter is hosting a super fun challenge this fortnight, with the theme being Painted Industrial.  This can be found on Page 46 of A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 3.  Pick up your own copy here.

Our beautiful sponsor this challenge is Inspiration Emporium!  They're giving away a $50 gift certificate, how much damage could you do with that?  Heehee.

This was my first time working with the Foil Tape Sheets, but I just LOVED them and will work with them again soon!!

I'm still not sure I don't want to add something, but this was a great technique!!

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge, Week 6

This was SUCH a hard project for me!!  I'd never worked with burlap except in a ribbon or a printed die cut that I just adhered as is.  Coloring it was a new animal, and I'm so not entirely happy with it.

The COC3 Challenge this week is Altered Burlap Panels using Tim's products.  If you don't have a copy of A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3, you can get one here.  COC3 is being sponsored this fortnight by the fabulous Funkie Junkie Boutique.  One lucky winner will get a $25 gift certificate to their store.

I had SUCH struggles with this panel!  First of all, the color.  I wanted a purple and red background, but as it dried, the red took over.  The more purple I added, it just made the red darker.  Oh well.  You also can't see the collaged music background, ink took it over.

The inspiration for this, like 99% of my art, was music.  I almost put a few lyrics from "Brave" on here, but I decided to just let the statement speak for itself.  The bow and bag of arrows on the dressform signify strength.

And a tiny bit the Green Arrow.  I looooove watching Arrow.

I'm entering some challenges of course:

Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Week 5

It's nearing the end of week 5 of the Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge and I've got my card finished in time, yay!  I have to say the watercoloring technique that was the challenge this week was the EASIEST part of this card!  I'm so obsessed with this technique now, you'll be seeing a lot of it in my cards the next few weeks.

ANYways, this challenge is Distress Watercoloring.  It can be found in Tim's latest book, A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3 and if you don't already have a copy, you can purchase it here.

Once again COC3 is being sponsored by Inspiration Emporium, and one lucky winner gets a $50 gift certificate!  Lucky girl or guy!

I knew what stamp I wanted to use for this card but the embellishments gave me a hard time.

I think I'm happy with the outcome.  The pearls were so different for me, but I do really like them.

The watercolor, I love.  Love love love.  Pink and blue are so great together.  And this card forced me to open an old TH paper pad I'd been hoarding for like three years.

I'm entering this card in a few challenges:

Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge 4

Happy Friday!  My weekend is off to a crafty start, I managed to finish my COC3 card like, twelve hours early.  WOOHOO!!!  The lovely sponsor of this week's COC3 Challenge is The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

The challenge this week is #49 Layering Stencils with Texture Paste.  If you don't have a copy of Compendium of Curiosities 3, you can order a copy here.  I didn't actually have any texture paste and realized this too late to order any, so I got onto Pinterest and made my own!!

I actually had to make three batches.  The first one, with flour and baby oil, was a DISASTER!  The second one, with flour, paint and Mod Podge, never ever got blended and smooth.  It stayed clumpy and I'll have to make a post with a photo of how it turned out 'cause it wasn't good.  My third try was a keeper!!  Baking soda, paint and Mod Podge.  Awesomeness.  The only issue I had with it was that it didn't really resist ink at all.  So with that in mind, I altered the original plan for the my project and created this.  I didn't wanna risk tearing my ink blending tool on the texture paste so I used Distress Stains instead and I think it was a great idea.

Now if you're wondering where the texture paste is, I'm going to show you!

See the stars in the background?  I left the middle section intentionally white to create a red, white and blue background.  Then I stamped overtop the entire tag with Archival Ink.

In this photo you can really see the stars in the red section.  They stay a bit lighter than the background but still take color.

I'm entering this in just a few challenges:

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge 3 - Week 3

Happy Hump Day!!!  I was so mad at myself for missing the 2nd challenge but I am here and READY for the third week of the COC3 Challenge.  The lovely Linda Ledbetter is hosting the challenge, and this week we're focusing on the Faux Tea Roses technique.  If you don't have a copy of Compendium of Curiosities 3, you can order one here!

I wanted to make a tag and turn it into a card, so I decided to just wing an idea and I wound up loving it.

I knew I wanted to create the tag in the spring color palette.  My old marker spritzer isn't really working (NOTE TO SELF: Go buy Tim's at Michaels this weekend) so the card background didn't really turn out, but I'm super happy with it.

This week's COC3 Challenge is being sponsored by Inspiration Emporium.  Thanks Inspiration Emporium!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 - Challenge One

HI!  I'm at the last minute again!!  This time I FINALLY get to play along with the Compendium of Curiosites Challenge!  I was too crazy busy with work when the first Compendium book came out and the second one, I don't even know what was going on with me.  But I'm HERE this time and I'm playing along!  If you don't have your own copy of A Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3, you can order one here.

This challenge we were trying the technique of Paint Marbling!  I grabbed some of my brand new Distress Paints and got to town!

I know I don't have great photography skills, but I hate when you work with shimmery paper or paint, you get a sort of glare when you take pictures of it.  The whole thing has shimmer but it doesn't really show!!

As you can see better here, the quote on this card is "Where there is love, there is no darkness."  I love it.

I've gotta get back to resting from the Mega Meet the past two days.  My foot is swollen and throbbing.  Ugh.  Thanks so much for looking and happy crafting.  Laters!
