Thirty-One Days of Crafting 2016 - Day Thirty-One - Happy Anniversary

I can't believe we're here already!!  The end of my super-crafty month!  I wanted to save a really awesome card for last and I think this one is perfect.  It's not my usual style.  There's no coloring and almost no stamping.  I made all the pieces myself except the rhinestones.  LOTS of meticulous steps and runs through my Big Shot and Xyron.  LOVE how it came out!!!

I think I should think outside the box more often!!!

**INSPIRED BY A SONG!** New Challenge with Creative Moments!!

Happy Hump Day!!  It's a new challenge at Creative Moments and our theme is Inspired By A Song!  Of course you can always play Anything Goes, but how easy is it to draw inspiration from music??? This is my first time working with Kitty Bee digi stamps!

I have to say that I put my old Batman Returns soundtrack on repeat for this one.  The song that most informed this card I think was "The Passenger".  I actually danced to that song in one of my recitals as a kid so I've always loved it.

Crazing Medium with Laura's Loft!!

Hi everyone!  I've got a great card up on Laura's Loft today featuring the new Tim Holtz Crazing Medium!  I also used his amazing Collage Brushes which made applying the medium super easy and less messy!

If you've ever used any kind of collaging medium or glue, you know that they're usually messy and never dry how you expect them to.  This stuff is NOT Mod Podge!  First thing I noticed when I opened the jar is that it's smoother than other brands I've worked with.  I used the widest of the Collage Brushes but any of them would work.

Here's a closeup so you can see the amazing texture this stuff has!

My background was created with Distress Inks, using Mini Kits #2, #12, #14, and I finished my card with a few Virginia Turtle Enamel Dots.  These are so great to add a little extra pop to your card without adding a lot of weight or depth.

Can you see it?  It's like teeny tiny crosshatch designs, but it feels super smooth.  The design is IN the medium instead of on top of the finished product.  I also noted that you don't get a lot of clumps on the edges of the elements with this stuff, which is rare.

Calling All Sistahs with Laura's Loft & CAS-Ual Fridays!!!

Calling All Sistahs!!

1 in 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime.

On August 17th, 2015, an awesome friend of ours became part of that statistic.  Calling All Sistahs was started by Michele Gross, owner of CAS-ual Fridays stamps, shortly after her breast cancer diagnosis.  It's her hope to create Breast Cancer Awareness beyond the month of October by reminding you to do your self breast exams on the 17h of every month.  We want to use these projects each month to encourage all of you do to the same.  You can read more about Michele's story here.

The Calling All Sistahs collection was created by Michele with the intent of donating 50% of her profits from all sales to Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention charities, in honor of all women battling or who have battled breast cancer.

Be sure to join us on the 17th of every month for special projects created with the Calling All Sistahs collection and a reminder to your self exams!

I'm so thrilled to be a part of a DT that's doing so much for a good cause. I'm also thrilled that Laura's Loft is one of the first shops to carry the Calling All Sistahs collection!  Laura also wants to continue funding the fight so she'll be donating 50% of all the profits from the Calling All Sistahs collection sold at her shop to breast cancer research near her in VA.

We've gathered some amazing talent from our DT members today and I'm sure you will love what everyone has created.   

I had soooooo much fun creating this card.  I used the new Lawn Fawn Fairy Friends Stamp set and coordinating Die Set.  My Background and frame were created using all three sets of the new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.  Set #1 is definitely my favorite because it's bright colors, but Set #2 is really earthy and Set #3 is all neutrals.  It was great to be able to mix and match the sets together.

I HIGHLY recommend the Distress Crayons to EVERYONE, they're super easy to use and blend like butter, just use your fingertips!

Barbie is 57 can you even believe it??  This doll has always been such an important part of my life.  Sometimes when I'm at Target or Walmart, I still walk down the Barbie aisle and reminisce.  (I might also have bought an outfit last year for the very Manolo-looking shoes that came with it, which I may or may night have painted the soles of red.)  Every year, I make her a birthday card, because without a doubt, she was and will always be my favorite toy.
