Need A Break?

Lately I've needed to decompress, and there just hasn't been enough time for that!  I've felt so rushed and just overly exhausted.  I did manage to throw a cute card together, using this week's sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday.  This is the sample I worked from:


And here's what I made. I wanted this done for FWF last week, but it didn't happen.

GO GREEN!!!!

It's so easy to start living green.  Recycle!!  Shop local!  Read the labels before you buy a product and stick with responsible companies.  Don't throw something useful out!  The two most important things you can do to help our planet is recycle and avoid using harmful pesticides outside your home.  There are natural alternatives to everything!  It's worth the extra steps to preserve our world for the future.

Okay rant over!!  Now, my card!  This was made entirely with scraps outside of the card base.  I recently designed a bunch of decorations for a baby shower and I made this card with the scraps.  I loooove green projects!

**APRIL SHOWERS** New Challenge with Crafty Girlz!

Hi everyone!  It's our first challenge back at Crafty Girlz and our super fun theme is April Showers!  Of course you can always play the optional theme of Anything Goes if you'd like.  You can enter our challenge up to three times, why not play both ways??

We've got a couple of lovely sponsors, first up is A Day for Daisies.  I'm a Barbie fanatic, so I couldn't resist using both images included with Doll Face 1.  I chose to play Anything Goes for these cards.

The acrylic "rain" is so hard to photograph, throws the rest of the photo off focus :/

Chase Your Dreams

Another Friday with Flair and this week I've got a simple, semi mixed media card to share with you. I do LOVE experiments and especially to use things leftover from one project for another.  While I used a printed card for this, the layering pieces are actually scraps from other projects.  The first layer and the butterfly are from acrylic paint paper with watercolors cleaned off a brush on it, and the middle bright blue layer is from when I had too much paint on my brush. I save everything.


I wanted a few other colors on the butterfly, so I added some ink and then went over a bit of it with a gold marker.  I wanna donate this card to OWH so no glitter, but I love how the gold accented the wings.

**SPRING** Challenge Reminder with Crafts2Celebrate!

It's our reminder post at Crafts2Celebrate and we're creating Spring cards!  You can play with either an Easter or a Spring themed card.

I was really excited to use quilling on this card.  I know, I know, quilling is old.  Really old.  And it's really slow-going so that's why I hadn't done it in like two years.  So I got a battery operated quilling tool, and boom.  Card finished.

One Last Bunny

You know me, I'm always making holiday cards after the holiday ends cause I never have time to actually make them before the holiday.  (Usually cause I'm catching up from the previous holiday!)  This is (hopefully) my last Easter card of 2015.  It's also my (last minute!) entry for the Unity Stamps Be Inspired Challenge.  I decided to follow the sketch this month:


I didn't have room for the sentiment on top but I really like how mine came out.


Okay I have NO natural light here so the sentiment is coming out a little dark.  But I promise it says "Happy Easter" :D

Oh and this really is a pointless piece of info but this card has no dies.  I ALWAYS use dies.  I did use a punch but that's it.  It wasn't even intentional.

Birthday Balloons

Happy Hump Day!  (Also known as, happy sad Wednesday with no new Arrow ep!)  I've got an awesome birthday card to share with you today that I made for the progressive challenge on the Art By Miran Facebook Group.  It's such a fun group and the monthly digi challenge keeps me creating.

I knew the minute I looked at this image that I wanted to make a shaker card.  The balloons literally came to me during a catnap.  I love how it turned out and the bright, summery colors.


This is an oversized card, and of course the shimmery cardstock didn't really photograph well.


In this one you can kind of see that the balloons are glittery.

Gatefold Bunnies

Most of you probably know, the card I make for my mom is always a special one.  This is the Easter card I made for her.

Oh and I forgot to take photos before I gave it to her, so I blurred out the text inside to give her privacy :D


This is what she saw when she took the card out of the envelope.


Close-up of the main imagery.  I really love mixing textures and embellishments to create my cards.

One side opened.  Note how the bunnies are in different poses to give the impression they might be looking at each other in some areas.


Here I wanted the bunnies to look like they were all running and jumping across the card.


The other size open, so you can see the different designs.


And the back of the card, 'cause I didn't think the label fit on the inside after I made it so I just put it on the back.  You of course can't tell but the word "Easter" was colored with my Wink of Stella pens.

What's Up, Sugar??

Happy Fridays with Flair!!  This week's post is of course Easter themed!  I've been wanting to make a card with Vivianne and I finally had time last night.


I hate that glitter cardstock doesn't show up in the photos.  Both background papers are glittery and so is the bunny.  I also added glittery highlights, like a shadow, but Wink of Stella doesn't photograph well.

First Post of April

I'm back already!!  My new goal for 2015 is to post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Let's see how long I can keep this up!  This is my (last minute!) card for the March Tim Holtz Tag of 2015.  Inspired by the colors Tim used, I decided to do an Easter tag.
