Meant To Be

Become who you were meant to be.  It's such a great sentiment, so full of promise. I like sentences.  As soon as I saw that the amazing Wendy Vecchi had started a monthly challenge blog, I thought of that quote and the stamp set it came from (which of course, is Wendy's).  This month's challenge was to use embossing paste, so I just dove in and started creating.


Trying out a new red background for my photos today.  Currently undecided.


The flowers are my favorite part.  I stamped on homemade shimmer paper (which of course doesn't show up in the photo), fussy cut them, and voila.  I really love the way the centers look especially.

The 12 Crafts of Christmas, Day Seven

Today's project was actually inspired by the challenge at Tis The Season Stamping.  They have an unusual color challenge right now, that really made me stop and say, wait.  Do those colors work for Christmas?  And that's how I got here.  I mean see for yourself.


SUCH a hard palette. But I'm nothing if not determined!!


I'm also super proud of myself 'cause I resisted the urge to use glitter and kept it shiny instead, for OWH.  My goal is to make all my challenge-specific Christmas cards in 2015 safe for donation to OWH.  Fingers crossed.  I'm 1/1 right now....

The stains blend together so beautifully.  My favorite new technique!!

The 12 Crafts of Christmas, Day Five

I'm running behind today!!  I usually get the post done much earlier than this but today was a tired, lazy day.  It happens.

The Fifth Day of Christmas has always been my favorite.  Not just because of the five golden rings but because of the way Miss Piggy sings in it on the Muppets Christmas CD.  That was a standby growing up and I still play it every season.  So obviously for today I wanted a sparkly, glittery card of goodness!

The 12 Crafts of Christmas, Day Four

I hear Mariah Carey in my head when I look at this stamp, this card.  I see her twirling around in a Santa dress and singing "All I Want For Christmas Is You", which is IMO one of the best Christmas songs EVER.  (Although did you hear Meghan Trainor's new one this year?  It was pretty sweet.)

I made this for my brother's girlfriend, 'cause she loves all things sparkly!  The chevron background and the snow on the Santa outfit are all glittery but it's so hard to photograph!

The 12 Crafts of Christmas, Day Three

Believe it or not, I made three versions of this card, and this is the one I like the best.


I didn't entirely think this card out, didn't plan it through like I normally would've.  I think maybe that was good though.  Usually I buy something and I know exactly what I wanna do, but this card had a mind of its own.  It was never supposed to have a green base, but I couldn't get any other cardstock in the right weight and quantity.  I wanted to only go silver but the gold helped tie in the green card.  It was just a series of ideas versus one general idea.  But I love it.

Art by Miran DT Call Submission

I"m so excited to apply to be on the Art By Miran Design Team!  I love her art so much, and being able to work with it on a regular basis would just be amazing.  I've always had a flair for Asian-inspired art, and her digis are perfect for that!

I was lucky enough to get to create with one of MiRan's digis last year on one of my other teams, and this is the card that I made:


It's actually one of my favorite things I've ever made.  I just love how it turned out.


The image lends itself so well to coloring, her eyes just pop right off the page.

The 12 Crafts of Christmas, Day Two

No turtle doves today!  I'm all about tags and today I'm sharing one of the Christmas ones I made.  I am LOVING those Distress Spray Stains, they're so fabulous!!


I'm thinking about getting or making a hanging holder, 'cause tags aren't the easiest to photograph!  It's really hard to see it in the photos but there's a stamped and embossed background on this card first, before the Spray Stains.

The 12 Crafts of Christmas, Day One

I'm starting a new tradition this year of making my "just for fun" Christmas projects after Christmas, when all the crazy is over and I'm not so tired and rushed and worn out all the time.

Today's projects are actually ones I made before Christmas--I made them Christmas Eve morning!!--and they were for my brother who's reignited his obsession with Zelda this year.  He wanted a Triforce ornament, and I thought, why stop there?  I decided to make him a card as well and put his present inside it.


Here's the card--I taped the gift card inside with removeable tape.  I have no idea if you even play Zelda on the Playstation, but he seemed to like it!!

Here's the ornament.  I was so so happy with how it turned out!  My bro liked it so much, he asked me to make one for a gift for a friend.


I love how it looks hanging, reflecting the colors off the lights.

**Something New** New Challenge with Creative Moments!!

**BRRRRR** New Challenge with Crafty Creations!!

Not Done With The Sparkle!!!

Seriously, HOW is Christmas over?!??!  I mean was that the fastest couple of weeks or WHAT?!?  I am so still in the Christmas spirit over here, and the challenge at Tis The Season Stamping was perfect for me to showcase it!  They've got an inspiration challenge this week, using this photo:


I looooove all things that BLING, so here's what I made:


I felt like the snowflakes would reflect and be blue so I went with a blue color palette.  I'm seeing myself make more and more blue-themed projects.

Featured On The Craft Star

I was online shopping (Christmas gift cards burning a hole in my pocket!!) today and I went to The Craft Star to see what new might catch my eye and featured on the front page was a collection, Music, The Other Passion In My Life.  I was thrilled to see one of my cards, Just A Note, featured as the first item!
